Underpinning and structural alterations require a disciplined sequence because the existing building must remain supported while loads are transferred into the new structure.
We work from the structural engineer’s design and method requirements, reviewing access, temporary support, neighbouring structures and the construction sequence before excavation begins. Depending on the project this can include traditional underpinning, foundations, reinforced concrete, structural steel and formation of new openings.

Engineer review
Drawings, calculations, sequencing, existing foundations and party-wall conditions are checked before work proceeds.
Temporary works
Support and excavation are carried out in controlled stages so the existing structure is never unnecessarily exposed.
Permanent structure
Concrete, reinforcement and steel are installed to the engineer’s design with the required inspections coordinated.
Close-out
Openings, walls, floors and affected finishes are made good as the structural phase is completed.
